RETAIL OPERATIONS MANAGER

Service Systems Associates is a fast growing company that operates retail stores in tourist and cultural attractions around the country. We are looking for a qualified Retail Operations Manager to join our team at the Buffalo Museum of Science. In this role, you will oversee the Retail Store Team at the Museum, as well as the Admissions team and process.
I. PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for meeting business objectives and sales targets. The Retail Operations Manager partners with (and reports to) the General Manager to ensure all goals are met.
II. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum 3 yrs. recent experience as retail Store Manager/GM/Director; previous retail management experience in the cultural attraction industry desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate to our clients and General Manager. Proven leadership skills with an understanding of the importance of team building/development, while fostering partnerships. Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with the ability to be organized. Demonstrates financial management, merchandising, analytical, planning and leadership skills. Demonstrates the ability to remain flexible in a fast paced environment. Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel (will use both regularly). Counterpoint POS and Patrons Edge a plus.
III. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Achieve Sales Goals and other metrics. Ensure the Admissions function is efficient and accurate. People focus must be a proven leader in attracting, hiring, training and retaining team members. Understand and follow all customer service programs. Leadership by example. Identify new ways to generate sales and achieve goals. Show dynamic leadership ability and motivate staff to exceed expectations of the customer and our client. Manage substandard performance by identifying and addressing issues through timely coaching and counseling. Celebrate successes, but also create written accountability and have tough conversations when appropriate. Ensure sales are maximized through having the right product and communicating inventory opportunities to the buyer. Manage payroll and controllable profit within established guidelines. Meet payroll budget percent expectations by being strategic with coverage, on-call shifts, etc. Direct store leadership in management of all inventory control programs. Ensure all company merchandise presentation standards are met.
Thetypical work schedule includes weekends and evenings. The Museum is open until 4PM daily, but the work day may extend beyond that time.
